KP Announces Punjab-Like Free Laptop Scheme for Students

Free Laptop Scheme for Students in KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has unveiled a free laptop scheme, promising to match the distribution percentage of Punjab’s program. This initiative aims to empower students across the province with access to modern technology, ensuring equal opportunities for education.

Free Laptop Scheme for Students

Gandapur emphasized, “If Punjab provides laptops to a certain percentage of students, KP will do the same.” This move is part of the provincial government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and enhance educational resources for the youth.

Call for Reciprocal Health Initiatives

While announcing the free laptop scheme for students, Gandapur also urged Punjab to adopt KP’s free health insurance model. He highlighted KP’s Sehat Card Plus program, which offers universal health coverage, and the newly introduced life insurance scheme. “Our entire population is covered under Sehat Card Plus, and we now provide life insurance as well. Punjab should extend similar benefits to its residents,” he stated.

KP’s Financial Achievements

Gandapur proudly shared KP’s financial milestones, noting a 55% increase in provincial revenue despite economic challenges. In contrast, he pointed out that Punjab’s revenue growth stands at only 12%. “Punjab should aim for 55% growth like KP,” he remarked.

The chief minister also highlighted KP’s fiscal discipline, achieving a budget surplus of Rs 176 billion and being the only province to meet International Monetary Fund (IMF) targets. “Punjab was assigned an IMF surplus target of Rs300 billion but ended up with a deficit of Rs146 billion,” he added.

Support for Underprivileged Brides

In addition to the free laptop scheme for students, Gandapur announced financial assistance for underprivileged brides. The government will support the weddings of 4,000 deserving girls, providing Rs200,000 to each.

Criticism of Punjab’s Governance

Gandapur criticized Punjab’s administration, challenging its leadership to a debate. “I am open to a debate. Punjab’s performance doesn’t even compare to 1% of KP’s achievements,” he asserted.

Conclusion

The free laptop scheme for students is a significant step by the KP government to promote education and digital literacy. With initiatives like Sehat Card Plus, life insurance, and financial aid for brides, KP is setting a benchmark for other provinces. Gandapur’s call for Punjab to adopt similar programs underscores his commitment to equitable development across Pakistan.

By focusing on education, healthcare, and financial growth, KP is paving the way for a brighter future for its residents. Stay tuned for more updates on the free laptop scheme for students and other transformative initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
