A new grading system for Matric and Inter classes is set to be implemented in 2025. This system of grading will replace the numerical system with grades.
The system is based on the scores that students will attain in their board exams, ranging from “Exceptional” to “Unsatisfactory” for scores 95% or above to below 40%, respectively, developed by the Inter-Board Coordination Committee (IBCC).
The policy emphasizes the assessment of students’ capability instead of positions 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
The grading system is as follows:
95% and above: A++ (Exceptional)
90-94%: A+ (Outstanding)
85-89%: A (Excellent)
80-84%: B++ (Very Good)
75-79%: B+ (Good)
70-74%: B (Fairly Good)
60-69%: C (Above Average)
50-59%: D (Average)
40-49%: E (Below Average)
Below 40%: U (Unsatisfactory)
According to the new system, the minimum passing marks are 40% instead of 33%, and Fail (F) is replaced with Unsatisfactory (U). The changes are implemented in Sindh first, but KPK, Punjab, and Balochistan have yet to change the system.
